| Beginning Feb 18 | Traditional Beard Growing | The beard growing contest will be conducted to raise funds in support of the Centennial Celebration of the founding of the City of St Cloud on April 18, 1909. Beard growing contests have been held at each jubilee of St. Cloud, the 25th, the 50th, the 75th and now at the 100th.
Prises will be awarded based on the Best Appearance, Fullest, Best Trimmed and "Worst beard I ever saw". Acceptable Styles include: I Abraham Linfolin, II Ulysses S Grant, III George "Yellow Hair" Custer
| | Mar 8 | Mt. Peace Cemetery Tour | On Sunday 8 March 2009, the Genealogy Club of Osceola County and the Osceola County Historical Society will join together in presenting an educational tour of historic Mount Peace Cemetery on East Tenth Street in St. Cloud.
Visitors will be given biographical information about those buried here who served during the War Between the States and joined their comrades late in life to settle this new colony in Florida. They were from varied backgrounds and their personal stories are enjoyable and at times inspiring.
The tour will be facilitated by the presence of uniformed members of local Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Information on additional interments of interest will also be available.
The walks will take place between 2 and 5 PM. There will be no entrance fee and information on all the organizations represented will be made available.
| | Mar 28 | Old-Time Family/Community Celebration | The Downtown Business Group will be hosting an old-time family/communty celebration for the 100th birthday of St. Cloud on March 28, 2009. Think "1909" and family fun on the streets of Downtown St. Cloud. Activities will include the closure of New York and Pennsylvania from 10th to 12th Streets from 1pm to 10pm,

...and more! | | April 17 | 100th Birthday Party/ Services Showcase | City of St Cloud will have a birthday party for the community at
Centennial Park, including a giant birthday cake, giveaways, displays,
and information booths | | April 18 | Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Memorial Hall | The GAR Memorial Hall was placed on the National Historic Registry on February 21, 1997. The entrance to the Hall is flanked by bricks bought in 1912 by subscription in order to defray the initial costs of the building.
The lovely theater located on the main floor was used for bublic meetings. A variety of community events were held there including High School graduations and political events. It's features include the original painted stage curtain, floodlights and decorative tin ceilings.
The cornerstone was laid Staurday, February 12, 1916 on the anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. It was opened on March 1, 1995. All items contained therein are now on permanent display in the Hall.
Items displayed in the museum include several collections of artifacts including many Civil War items as well as numerous pieces of GAR memorabilia.
This one-of-a-kind landmark offers a unique look back to the very beginning of our hometown.
| | Jan 17 | St. Cloud-Opoly Tournament | The competition was hot and heavy as players competed in the St. Cloud-Opoly Tournament, held at the St. Cloud Hotel on Saturday, January 17, from 1:00 to 3:00PM.
The branchild of the St. Cloud Leads Group, St. Cloud/Osceola Business Connections, a member of the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce, the tournament was spearheaded by Gary Gammon and Barbara Bowling.
Based on the popular game, Monopoly, the St. Cloud-Opoly game has properties named after local businesses and agencies, money highlighting local businesses and individuals and other attributes. The center of the board is dominated by a photograph of the St. Cloud Camber of Commerce building, which has historic significance in the area.
During tournament play, Mayor Donna Haret and Councilwoman Mickey Hopper stopped in to check on the progress, as well as Brenda Terrell, Cindi Robinson, Olivia Rowland and several local business people. The tournament players were Chris Miller, "Doc" Al Jordan, Councilman Tom Griffin, David Bowling and Chris Falkowski. final standing, after 2 hours of play were: 1st place- Dave Bowling with $6686 in "cash" and $760 in "property", for a total of $7446.00. Dave won a plaque and bragging rights; 2nd place- Tom Griffin - $2637 in "cash" and $1740 in "property" for a total of $4377; 3rd place- Doc Al Jordan $3185 in "cash" and $560 in "property" for a total of $3745 and 4th place- Chris Miller wit $1595 in "cash" and $725 in "property" for a total of $2250.
"I want to thank all the businesses and organizations that supported the St. Cloud-Opoly game production and the St. Cloud Hotel for hosting the event. It was a wonderful way to spend a cool winter day," said Gary Gammon.
